As a make-up artist, the most frequent questions you get asked are often about skin conditions, not make-up products. And at the top of the list (along with ‘how do you get rid of crows feet?’) is ‘how do I make my pores smaller?’
Pores are small openings on the skin’s surface which let the skin secrete fluids. There are a few different factors that can add to the size of your pores. One is genetics. Two is poor skin care and three is sun damage. So it’s not all bad news – you can use certain products to reduce the size of your pores and make the skin of your face as smooth as possible. 90% of your skin and make-up routine should be centered around having your skin as clean and smooth as possible – that way, all you need is a very little amount of make-up and you be set!

This product helps purify the skin, has a matte finish and helps with the tightness and brightness of the skin. Added bonus is it doesn’t have any of those nasty ingredients like parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes etc.
2. Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum – $45
This product claims to clear the debris out of larger pores and get rid of any rough skin on the skin. There are a lot of varying reports online on whether this actually works at reducing the size of your pores. But there are a lot of reports that it does help the re-surfacing on the skin in general and it works on people with sensitive skin which is a bonus!
3.Clear Improvement™ Active Charcoal Mask To Clear Pores – $23
Charcoal has been used as a deep cleansing agent for thousands of years and this mask aims at drawing out all the dirt, toxins and debris from deep within the skins surface. White China clay is also found in this deluxe mask, calming and purifying. Best used weekly. The online reviews are all positive – most sites are giving it a 4.5/5 rating and one person quoting 95% of blackheads were removed with one application of the mask!
